Education with knowledge, character and purpose.
Avicenna Academy brings together structured British learning, individual progression and human guidance — helping students build secure understanding, confidence and meaningful academic progress.
The legacy behind our name.
Avicenna — Ibn Sina — was one of the great scholars of medicine, science and philosophy. His legacy reminds us that education can be intellectually ambitious, purposeful and grounded in character.
A tradition of knowledge
By naming the Academy after Avicenna, we honour a tradition of intellectual curiosity, disciplined study and the pursuit of knowledge.
His ability to bring together learning across different fields remains a powerful inspiration for an education that encourages students to understand deeply, think carefully and use knowledge with purpose.
“Knowledge should illuminate the mind, refine the character and serve a greater purpose.”Inspired by the legacy of Avicenna
Education should respond to understanding — not simply the timetable.
Students do not all understand the same idea at the same moment. Yet learning is often organised around when a lesson ends or when a class is expected to move on.
Avicenna Academy takes a different approach. Students follow a clearly defined British curriculum, but their learning evidence helps determine the most appropriate next step — whether that means further explanation, more practice or progression.
The curriculum remains structured. The journey through it becomes more responsive to the individual learner.
Learning should be structured, individual and purposeful.
Avicenna is designed for families who want more than a collection of online lessons. Students follow a clear learning journey while their understanding helps determine the most appropriate next step within the curriculum.
Structured Learning
Lessons follow a purposeful sequence from teacher explanation through practice, independent work and knowledge checking.
Individual Progress
Students do not simply move forward because time has passed. Learning evidence helps determine what they should do next.
Human Guidance
Independent learning is supported by teacher and mentor oversight, with parents given meaningful visibility of progress.
Education should prepare students for more than the next lesson.
At Avicenna Academy, our aim is to help students develop the knowledge, skills, discipline and confidence they need not only for examinations, but for university, future careers and wider life.
Successful learning requires more than simply completing content. It requires understanding, practice, commitment and personal responsibility. At Avicenna, students follow a clearly structured learning journey and progress according to what their learning demonstrates — not simply because a lesson has ended or time has passed.
Our teaching model combines expert explanation with structured independent learning. British-qualified teachers provide clear teaching and academic direction, after which students work through lesson notes, worked examples, guided practice, independent practice and knowledge checks. Their learning evidence helps determine what happens next — whether they are ready to progress, need further practice or would benefit from revisiting an earlier concept — while teacher and mentor oversight provides guidance and support throughout the learning journey.
We also believe education should develop character alongside knowledge. Integrity, respect, responsibility and high expectations should be reflected in the way students learn and approach their future.
My hope is that every student who learns with Avicenna becomes more knowledgeable, more independent and more confident in what they are capable of achieving.

What we want every student to gain.
Education should leave students with more than completed lessons. We want them to develop secure understanding, growing independence and the confidence to make meaningful progress.
Understanding
Not simply completing work, but developing secure understanding of what they are learning and why.
Independence
Building the confidence, discipline and responsibility to become increasingly capable of learning for themselves.
Progress
Moving forward because understanding has been demonstrated, with a clear direction for what should happen next.
